This is your reminder that you can make a wonderful smothered chicken dish without dairy. I don’t know what these southern cooks are doing, but I was taught that all you need is a little flour 💁🏾‍♀️. And don’t forget to throw some spinach in that cabbage, honey. Gotta eat those greens!!

A little fall gardening

I think these hydrangeas are finally going to do the trick. Unfortunately, I’ve unalived about 5 of them since April 😩🤣. This time I did my research and picked some seriously hardy ones, and I decided not to plant them immediately.

They’ve been sitting where they were going to be planted for a week in order to get acclimated. It also allowed me to see what their watering needs would be. Gardening can be so hit or miss when you’re still learning what the heck you’re doing. But I’ve been enjoying the process. My wallet? Not so much.

As you can see, Mitch came to rescue me and finished digging the holes. I was fighting for my life. These IVF meds have left me with very little energy, but I really needed to get out to get some sun. Teamwork makes the dream work!

Recently I had a coworker tell me that they don’t eat bread and that they don’t know anyone who does 😒🥴. The southerner in me wanted to pounce but I just laughed it off. I don’t care how healthy I become, that ain’t never equating to me turning down homemade goodness. 💁🏾‍♀️

Of course I came right home and baked some sandwich bread. Cheers to this next installation in becoming a better baker.

If I’m honest, I’ve been so torn about the new season around the corner. There’s an excitement because it’s such a beautiful time of year, but it’s also a reminder of how quickly time passes. A reminder that almost another year has passed, and we’ve not been successful in trying to conceive. But with a new season, comes new possibilities. And so I choose to welcome fall with open arms.
