Not having a dad or father figure growing up, left a void that I didn’t realize I had until I was walking down the aisle by myself. So watching the way Elizabeth lights up with joy, every time Mitch walks in a room, has slowly healed me in ways I wasn’t sure was possible. I’m so thankful for the life we are building, and that I get to do parenthood with Mitch.

Happy first Father’s Day, to this sweet man of mine.

Made some changes …

Please forgive me as I get back into the swing of making videos (it’s a bit rocky, I know).

One of my MANY projects on my todo list for our home, was revamping our entryway. I wanted to add more warmth, while really leaning into one of my favorite decorating styles — French Provincial.

More texture, heart, Aquarius (iykyk).

Can you believe we’ve been in this home almost 5 years?!! When you’re a normal person (with regular people budgets), that’s how long it takes to fill/feel a home. At some point, I need to show the before and after(s).

It’s funny because now everything I do in here, I do with Elizabeth in mind. I think about what her memories will be. The smells, textures, and sounds. I think about what we will leave behind for her, and all the stories.

While I know us being here, giving her love, and a regulated nervous system is what’s most important, I want the environment around her to reflect that back (if that makes sense). I’m responsible for her childhood magic (in this Black ass home 😏).

Having a beautiful, well-appointed home, is just one of many ways that I honor my ancestors and our history.

Part 2 of 3: A lot can happen in a year.

Picture this: We just got home from a failed egg retrieval because I ovulated through the meds—again. I messaged the portal demanding to speak to my doctor asap, and went to sleep my sorrows away.

As a millennial, my ringer is always off, so it’s a literal miracle I woke up to 2 missed calls and a portal message that read: “Those eggs are somewhere.” 🏃🏾‍♀️💨

We were told to drive right back to the clinic to convert to an IUI.

Now, the last time we did an IUI, a doctor told us, “This isn’t going to work, but sure, I’ll do it.” Mitch’s count was under 1M (they want 5-10M). But on this day? Mitch brought 19 Million swimmers to the party. 🍆💥

Even crazier? Our doctor drove 1.5 hours from Canton just to do the 2-minute procedure herself. She was out the door before my post-procedure timer even went off #iykyk.

And now... it was time to wait. I’m officially PUPO (Pregnant Until Proven Otherwise). Let’s do this. 🌈

Around this time last year, Good Friday to be exact, I woke up from anesthesia to learn I’d had yet another failed egg retrieval. We walked into surgery so hopeful, only to have the rug swiped from underneath us.

…back at home, I would tell Mitch “I’m having some really dark thoughts.”

One phone call and a reminder that it was “Good Friday” would change our lives.

3 months with me… I’m back, yall. Mommy is trying

3 months with me…

I’m back, yall. Mommy is trying to figure out where she wants to take itsbellmade, as she has fully leaned into making me her personality 🤭💁🏾‍♀️💁🏽‍♀️.

I’m now smiling all the time, cooing at all the things, and I develop a new sound every week. Example? My pterodactyl scream while I’m being buttered down after a bath. It’s ghetto — 0/10, do not recommend. I’m working on it because it makes mommy cry.

On a brighter note, I also grunt and tremble as she begins whipping out the nip nip. Both she and my daddy laugh, saying I look like Tyrone Biggums. Oh! And I’ve rolled over from stomach to back FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES.

Mommy says that the word “love” isn’t big enough.
